Akira Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Configuration/Change Manager Expert to join our team for a critical project supporting the United States Army. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and controlling configuration items and changes throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring the integrity, consistency, and traceability of Army systems and applications. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to national defense while working with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

This role is mostly remote with occasional onsite presence in the DC Metro Area.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Configuration Management: Develop and maintain configuration management processes and procedures to identify, control, and track configuration items (CIs) throughout their lifecycle, including version control, baselining, and release management.
  • Change Management: Establish and enforce change management processes and workflows to manage changes to configuration items, including change requests, impact assessments, approvals, and implementation plans.
  • Configuration Identification: Define and maintain configuration item identification criteria and standards, ensuring consistent naming conventions, labeling, and categorization of configuration items to facilitate traceability and accountability.
  • Configuration Control: Establish and enforce configuration control mechanisms to prevent unauthorized changes and ensure that only authorized and validated changes are implemented in accordance with established processes and procedures.
  • Configuration Audits: Conduct periodic configuration audits and reviews to verify the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of configuration items with specified requirements, standards, and baselines.
  • Release Management: Coordinate and oversee the release and deployment of configuration items and software releases, ensuring smooth and seamless transitions between development, testing, staging, and production environments.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of configuration management activities, including configuration baselines, change logs, and audit reports. Provide regular status updates and reports to stakeholders and leadership on configuration management activities and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CMII, ITIL) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in configuration management, change management, or related fields, with a strong understanding of configuration management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience with configuration management tools and systems, such as Git, Subversion, or Atlassian Jira, and familiarity with version control concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of change management processes and workflows, including change request handling, impact assessment, approval routing, and change implementation planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex configuration management challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and customers at all levels of the organization.
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
