Job Summary:


The Environmental Specialist's primary objective is to provide expertise and support to Asphalt Materials Inc. in the areas of air, waste, water, and local regulations. Ensure the implementation and ongoing improvement of environmental policies within the business as well as compliance with the relevant regulation. This position will report directly to the Environmental Manager.



Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare and submit:
    • NPDES permit applications and renewals.
    • MSOP/FSOP permit applications and renewals.
    • Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)
    • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC)
    • Facility Response Plan (FRP)
    • EPCRA Reporting (Tier II/TRI)
  • Deliver environmental training programs for operations as required, and ensure adequate records are maintained.
  • Provide environmental compliance support to plant personnel.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and develop solutions for environmental compliance gaps.
  • Keep up to date with all Federal, State, and local environmental legal requirements and monitor developments or changes.
  • Respond and provide oversight for the emergency response to sudden releases of oil and hazardous materials.
  • Keep all Business Licenses and Certifications up to date for multistate locations.
  • Engage with external bodies such as EPA, state environmental agencies, and local agencies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required; preferred in environmental management, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related science and technical discipline.
  • 1-3 years works experience required.
  • RCRA experience strongly preferred.
  • SPCC experience strongly preferred.
  • FRP experience strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, with emphasis on oil, water, hazardous materials, and waste.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, interpreting rules, laws, agreements, etc.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency in MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
