Position Summary:
MGPS is seeking a Systems Engineer to support a program that automates processing large forensic images, extracting and enriching metadata, and displaying information meaningfully for analysts' assessments.

Job Description:
We provide technical solutions and capabilities to enable analysts to conduct enterprise search, digital forensics, and data analytics. Our team is building a modern cloud-based system to replace a legacy standalone system and requires an infrastructure team adept in a dynamic, agile software development environment. We adhere to Agile Scrum development methodology best practices with 2-week sprint cycles.

Responsibilities include:
• Identifying, documenting, and communicating risks and mitigations.
• Reviewing systems to identify gaps and minimize overlaps.
• Analyzing project needs for alternative solutions.
• Identifying and integrating necessary layers and modules.
• Developing and selecting backend database technologies.
• Optimizing database population to support content, volume, ETL, and periodicity of data.
• Reviewing technical implementation strategies.
• Identifying inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Communicating results to the Project Manager.

RequirementsRequired Technologies/Tools:

1. Mandatory: Demonstrated experience working with an AWS cloud environment.
2. Mandatory: Demonstrated experience understanding and implementing system security requirements.
3. Mandatory: Demonstrated experience creating a testing environment to identify and improve bugs and efficiencies.
4. Mandatory: Demonstrated experience programming in Python, PowerShell, and Java 8+.
5. Mandatory: Demonstrated experience using Python and the PySpark library to read, write, and manipulate large structured and semi-structured datasets.
6. Mandatory: Demonstrated experience using task tracking and version control technology to include JIRA and GitHub.

Education:
Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, or related field or equivalent work experience.
