Youth Enrichment Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor/Coordinator, the Youth Enrichment Instructor is responsible for class leadership to promote developmental skills to program members in a safe, professional, and caring manner while assisting them in working towards positive self-image and personal growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans class activities that are age appropriate and contribute to the personal growth and self-esteem of the participants.
- Maintains a safe and orderly environment, including housekeeping duties, set up and take down of classroom.
- Implements lesson plans with fun and enthusiasm while interacting with children at their level and providing an enriching experience for participants.
- Problem solves issues, concerns, incidents, and reports to supervisor with possible solutions.
- Greets and communicates with parents, keeps all interactions positive and is sensitive to the feelings of children and parents.
- Prepared and ready to teach prior to the start of class.
- When necessary, finds a sub and provides all lesson plans.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 16 years of age.
- Previous experience working with children.
- Possess good knowledge of preschool and youth child development, basic movement activities and age-appropriate learning activities.
- The ability to interact with children at their cognitive level.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to participate in all required activities with the children.
- Able to stand or sit for extended lengths of time.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
