Job Description:Are you passionate about igniting a love for learning in young people? Do you believe in the power of hands-on education to inspire and empower?
As an Education Apprentice, you will work closely with Spark-Y staff and interns to develop and deliver innovative STEM curriculum through the lens of sustainability and urban agriculture. You'll have the opportunity to lead engaging workshops, design interactive learning experiences, and support student-driven projects that cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and environmental stewardship. This role offers a unique blend of classroom facilitation, curriculum development, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing and delivering hands-on STEM lessons and activities with a focus on sustainability, urban agriculture, and entrepreneurship
  • Facilitate workshops and programs in both classroom and outdoor settings, adapting to diverse learning styles and needs
  • Collaborate with staff to create engaging educational content, such as lesson plans, activity guides, and digital resources
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to youth participants, fostering their personal and academic growth
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance facilitation skills and subject matter expertise
  • Contribute to program evaluation, documentation, and reporting
  • Assist with outreach, marketing, and special events as needed

Eligibility:
  • 18-30 years of age
  • Residents of the City of Minneapolis (ages 18-24) or Ramsey County (ages 18-30)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 0-1 years of education experience.
  • Experience working with youth or in mentorship roles
  • Ability to present information to individuals and groups.
  • Interest or experience in education or STEM, with specific emphasis in sustainability, horticulture / agriculture, renewable energy, environmental science, or related fields
  • Experience with project-based learning or curriculum development

Compensation & Benefits:
  • $500 stipend upon training completion; $15/hour thereafter
  • Opportunities for professional certification and skill development
  • Metro Transit pass available upon request
  • Mileage reimbursement for qualifying work-related travel
