About the opportunity: Senior Controls & Instrumentation Engineer


C&I Engineering is a design and consulting firm operating in the industries of oil & gas, food & beverage, distilled spirits, and renewables. We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Controls & Instrumentation Engineer in our Louisville, KY office to help us achieve our company mission. This person will be part of the Electrical Engineering team which is responsible for developing designs for electrical, instrument, and control systems and performing a variety of computer-based modeling, design, engineering, and planning tasks on projects.


This is a direct-hire, full-time position.


Responsibilities include:

  • The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will be responsible for leading multi-disciple projects, including directing and monitoring support staff.
  • Helping develop P&IDs and creating typical electrical and instrument design documents.
  • Specifying process instrumentation including, level, pressure, flow, temperature, and other related instrumentation.
  • The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will prepare complete design packages including a scope of work that meets design intents and customer expectations.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering program with a minimum of 6 years of related work experience, or a bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering technology program with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally to client locations, vendor shops, and project sites. Travel may be up to 10%
  • Experience required in chemical, refinery, or food & beverage industries for new or retrofit projects.
  • Must comply with drug-free workplace requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and pass any required background checks.
  • Performs work in a safe manner in accordance with C&I and client requirements.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job which could include exposure to the weather, heights, small spaces, noise, etc. while working on job sites.
  • Valid Driver’s License
