FLSA STATUS: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: We are currently seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to support physicians at our downtown Phoenix location. The position will primarily encompass clinical work and may also include participation in physician-led research projects. The ideal candidate will be a “self-starter” with prior neurological experience and a passion for excellence.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Assesses patient health status, including state of wellness and compliance with care plans.
  • Meets with new patients; obtain and update patient history, monitor ongoing treatment.
  • Triages patient calls and evaluates patient concerns, providing guidance as needed.
  • Provide acute and chronic pain care, including taking histories, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medication, suturing wounds.
  • Excellent oral, written & telephone communication, along with tact, diplomacy, and a strong customer service orientation
  • Prioritizes work activities and accepts multiple job duties
  • Maintains effective working relationships with physicians, administration and other staff members
  • Requires flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends or holidays.
  • Participates in rounds at the hospital and responds to patient calls received after hours and on weekends
  • Maintains positive attitude and demonstrates the utmost in professionalism at all times.
  • Documents patient information and care provided in the patient record.
  • Educates patients and families as appropriate. Provides continuity of care.
  • Compliance – Maintains privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, client, staff, and organizational data.
  • Other duties and assignments as necessary.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged sitting, standing, bending, stooping, stretching, and walking.
  • Normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and records.
  • Ability to help transfer patients; lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional stress from dealing with multiple tasks, anxious patients and families, and critically ill patients.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Medical office and exam room settings.
  • Hospital Operating Room settings.
  • Frequent contact with a variety of people, including patients, vendors, visitors and other clinic and hospital staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program.
  • Current RN license, Advanced Practice Certification, and Prescribing and Dispensing Certificate in Arizona, Certification as nurse practitioner approved.
  • Board Certification required.
  • Prior neurosurgical and/or neurological experience required (3+ years preferred).
  • RNFA preferred.
  • Remain active in professional organizations and maintain CME.
