Animal Intake Coordinator/Animal Care Staff
Position Summary: The Animal Intake Coordinator (AIC) is a member of the Animal Care Staff with responsibility for scheduling animal relinquishment appointments and processing animal intakes at the humane society's animal shelter. The AIC is also responsible for helping with: cleaning animal enclosures; dog walking; daily feeding; animal enrichment; and other tasks related to daily animal care and maintenance of animal housing areas.
Primary responsibilities include: (1) responding to all animal-intake inquiries via phone and email; (2) accurately communicating CCHS processes and policies to people seeking to relinquish pets to CCHS; (3) scheduling animal admissions; (4) processing animal admissions (paperwork, administering vaccines/preventatives, customer service, etc.); (5) entering all pertinent animal-intake-data into the animal management software; (6) maintaining effective communication with supervisors and management regarding intake-capacity and the flow of animals from arrival to adoption; (7) assisting the animal care staff with daily tasks; and (8) other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Animal handling experience (dogs, cats, various small animal species)
Calm under pressure
Experience handling animals in an animal shelter or veterinary environment is a plus
This is a physically demanding position that requires heavy lifting (minimum of 50 lbs.), exposure to loud noise, exposure to extreme weather conditions, and exposure to strong cleaning and disinfecting agents.
This position is full-time and will include weekend and some evening hours. Starting pay $16-$18/hr.
