JOB PURPOSE
The machinist will be responsible for running general machines such as drills, mills, CNC equipment, grinders, etc. The individual must be a skilled machinist since they will be responsible for running experimental and production requirements. They will be given a part that needs to be ran and they will have to set up the machine, including tooling and fixtures, run first piece, and make sure they are pulling the proper technical data as required. Following that will be quality checks and comparing measurements to blueprints. They will be using micrometers, calipers, and depth gages, and using CMM machines to check quality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all Safety Principles.
- Adhere to all Quality System Standards.
- Operate simple to complex manual machines including Saws, lathes, Gun drill and mills.
- Operate CNC equipment.
- Make required adjustments to maintain specifications utilizing engineering drawings, verbal instructions, written Operator instructions and boundary samples.
- Measure components and test complete assemblies using calibrated test and measuring equipment.
- Prepare required written documentation, i.e. Product Acceptance Records, Nonconforming Material Reports.
- Changing tooling and fixtures to run parts
- Quality checks using micrometers and calipers
- Experience with ferrous and nonferrous materials
- Input required data NetSuite
- All other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of related experience minimum.
- Ability to read and understand Safety Rules, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and engineering drawings.
- Determine feeds and speeds for best performance.
- CNC programming a benefit.
- Tool selection and changeover requirements pertaining to certain job requirements.
- Tool sharpening experience
- Ability to operate Manual Equipment.
- Ability to use common hand and power tools.
- Ability to use calibrated test and measuring equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with work group.
- Ability to apply problem solving techniques and implement corrective action.
- Ability to do Tools Setting/Tool off-set
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an operational manufacturing warehouse environment. While performing regular duties, this position is exposed to various chemicals and solvents. May require working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching, and full range of body motion including handling and lifting to 50 pounds frequently, manual and finger dexterity, as well as a normal range of hearing and vision.
