PURPOSE:

The Controller is responsible for managing the ongoing client financial reporting operations of the firm. This includes the review of periodic financial reports prepared by the staff, preparation of budget, KPI and other management reports, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the client's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The Controller also serves as the primary liaison between the client and the client’s tax preparer and other professional service providers.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS:

  • Prior business experience and ability to apply that experience to a wide range of client situations
  • Advanced skills in non-for-profit accounting & reporting
  • Ability to motivate and manage staff in an environment with remote staff

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Client financial statements, schedules and ad hoc reporting
  • All PBC (prepared by client) materials for not-for-profit audit clients
  • Daily, accurate time tracking by client, chargeable and non-chargeable
  • Track and maintain workflow
  • Seek out and attend training regularly
  • Make suggestions for ways to increase efficiencies
  • Additionally, manage these tasks personally or oversee staff managing these tasks
  • Process payroll as needed
  • Manage client AP processes
  • Manage client AR processes
  • File and maintain accurate client records
  • Collect W9s & W8s, determine backup withholding, prepare 1099s
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, loans and general ledger accounts

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree or equivalent required
  • 3-5 years experience within a Public Accounting firm (5+ years related experience)
  • Experience with Business Central or MS Dynamics is highly preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
