The Senior Accountant position supports the accounting department by providing service to team members, clients, and vendors in a professional, efficient, and respectful manner. Ensures accurate and ethical treatment of all Berco Redwood and Berry Lumber financial statements, reporting, and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Update accounts receivable and issue invoices.
  • Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations.
  • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
  • Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned.
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
  • Prepare daily cash and check deposits: counting cash and scanning checks.
  • Coding paid outs.
  • Verifying orders and invoices are paid and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Sorting and filing orders and invoices.
  • Recording data into multiple spreadsheets.
  • Billing/Invoicing orders.
  • Entering inventory transfers in the accounting system.
  • Prepare and send out Pre-Lien notices.
  • Answer phones.
  • Opening mail and mailing out invoices.
  • Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
  • Assist with other accounting projects.
  • Occasionally perform related, unrelated, projects by CFO, Accounting Manager, Credit Manager, and Business Manager.

Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with accounting software and data entry
  • Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of spreadsheets
  • Ability to work independently
  • Analytical skills

Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or any other related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • 5 years of experience in accounting, financial institution, or equivalent preferred.
