Payroll Expert 


Position Overview:

As a Payroll Expert at Wilson Toellner CPA, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the payroll process for our clients. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, adhering to relevant regulations, and providing exceptional client service. You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and third-party payroll vendors to deliver efficient payroll solutions while staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Payroll Processing:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring all employee data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Calculate wages, bonuses, commissions, and overtime accurately while complying with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Review and validate timesheets, attendance records, and other payroll-related documents for accuracy.


2. Compliance and Reporting:
- Stay informed about the latest payroll laws, regulations, and tax updates to ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards.
- Prepare and submit necessary payroll tax forms and filings (e.g., W-2, 1099, 941) accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies promptly.


3. Client Communication and Support:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries related to payroll processing, tax-related issues, and employee benefits.
- Provide professional and courteous client support, addressing questions and concerns promptly and effectively.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary information and documentation for payroll processing.


4. Technology and Process Improvement:
- Utilize payroll software and other related tools effectively to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and propose innovative solutions to enhance the payroll service offering.


5. Collaboration with Internal Teams:
- Work closely with other members of the accounting and tax team to ensure seamless integration between payroll and other financial processes.
- Collaborate with HR and benefits specialists to ensure accurate administration of employee benefits.


6. Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Implement quality control measures to minimize errors and enhance the overall payroll process.


Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
- Proven experience in payroll processing and administration, preferably in a CPA firm or similar environment.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with various payroll software and accounting systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
