Duty Schedule:

8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. MTWRF Minimum 40 hours a week. May require evening and/or weekend work.

Summary/Objective of Position:

Provide direction for the daily operational functions of the Financial Aid Office and assure best practices and regulations are followed for all students receiving financial aid. Provide leadership, accountability, and daily management of the Financial Aid Office. Create and maintain an attitude of quality customer service to students, families, and partners. Maintain regulatory compliance and protect the integrity of the financial aid services of the College.

SUPERVISE, DIRECT, AND MANAGE THE FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIP OFFICES AT TSAILE AND SHIPROCK CAMPUSES:

- Oversee Financial Aid staff to build efficiencies and scalability for financial aid functions and services provided to students and partners.
- Provide ongoing communication and updates of student financial aid program with all regional sites and pertinent campus administrators.
- Contribute to Innovative strategic assessment, program planning, and operation
- Identify/recommend areas of personnel performance improvement of financial aid staff.
- Develop annual program/department and work goals for the student financial aid program and staff.
- Collaborate and communicate with Director of Student Enrollment & Student Access and DHR Director to complete personnel performance evaluations of financial aid personnel.

ESTABLISH, IMPLEMENT, AND SUSTAIN A SYSTEM OF PRACTICE AND PROCESSES FOR ADEQUATE ADMINISTRATION AND COMPLIANCE OF THE STUDENT FINANCIAL AID PROGRAMS:

- Develop, revisit, modify, and implement financial aid policies, procedures, and practices.
- Maintain compliance of all federal, state, tribal, and institutional financial aid guidelines, requirements, and regulations.
- Compile and make known pertinent information to maintain the college's Title IV eligibility.
- Communicate with private, tribal, state, and federal organizations to build student financial aid resources and network;
- Understand and collaborate with college departments (ie. admission/registrar offices, finance office, etc.) to deliver and promote quality student support services.
- Assure FERPA guidelines are maintained at all times.
- Monitor, review, and recommend course of action regarding federal financial aid programming.
- Review the website content quarterly and draft suggested updates of content for review by Director of Enrollment Management for final approval.
- Responsible for answering phone calls and returning voice or email messages in a timely fashion to ensure a high level of customer service.
- Utilize all technologies available through Dine' College to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of the financial aid office.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal regulations by participating in conferences, workshops and webinars to stay current with financial aid issues and train all FA staff.
- Perform other related duties as requested and assist in special projects as assigned

ADMINISTER, COMPILE, PRODUCE, AND PARTICIPATE IN FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM REPORTING:

- Prepare and present written and oral reports relevant to the college's student financial aid programs.
- Complete, submit, and disseminate annual compliance report: FISAP and Annual Single Act Audit
- Participate and contribute financial aid program data for institutional reports (i.e. AIMS/AKIS, IPEDS, ATD, TCCU, Navajo Nation, NMHED, National Student Clearinghouse, HLC, Clery Act, AIHEC, etc.)

OVERSEE FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepare annual department budgets and monitor program expenditures; Assess and evaluate the financial aid program budget to be aligned with program annual planning, goals/objectives, and operations

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience


Minimum:

A Bachelor Degree in Education, Business Administration or related field. Must have a minimum of four years work experience in student financial aid with at least two years in a Financial Aid Supervisory capacity.

Preferred:

A Master's Degree in higher education or related area is preferred.

Knowledge:

- Knowledge and administration of federal, state, tribal financial aid programs within the federal, State, Tribal and institutional compliances.
- Experience in processing student financial aid through a relational database system is desired.
- Required to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel:

Work is typically done in an Office work environment. At times required to lift typical office equipment and supplies. Travel required to other campus and sites. Travel required by vehicle and at times by air to conferences and training out of state.
Able to work in a high pressure office setting during peak business times of the year.

Valid State Driver's License.
