Vocational Specialist-FACT

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vocational Specialist is an advanced professional position responsible for assessing clients’ interests and serious mental illness to assist in obtaining employment and/or vocational training or adjusting to a workplace. Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team and reports to the Program Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree, at least 1 year of related experience (preferred. Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel, and ability to learn and use other computer software. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with, provide information to and respond to questions from managers, clients, service providers, family members, and the public. Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships required for proper functioning. Demonstrates skills to handle a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and facilitate tasks and work assignments. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and a minimum age of 21 years or older.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Connect with clients with serious mental illnesses to emphasize and assist them in obtaining competitive employment in the community and providing the support necessary to ensure their success in the workplace.
• Will provide consultation and training to other team staff on supported employment approaches.
• Assist and/or manage caseload and may assist with transportation when needed.
• May deliver medications to patients and document patient self-administration of medications. All direct service staff will rotate on call, working evening hours, and weekend coverage, so must be available for rotation of these changing hours.
• Must be 21 years of age or over, and have a valid Florida driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable transportation is required.
• Attend agency-wide, division, and program meetings, seminars, conferences, and workshops to maintain and enhance essential skills and knowledge.
• Performs other duties that are similar, related, or are a logical assignment to the job.
