As a member of The Night Ministry team, you can look forward to engaging and compelling work, building dynamic professional relationships with staff, volunteers, and our broad base of supporters. While also knowing you are making a meaningful impact on those who we serve.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities as a Bus Outreach Professional will include maintaining accurate and timely data entry in both internal and external databases, which encompass Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO). Additionally, assisting in basic vehicle pre-maintenance checks, such as refueling, oil inspections, and coordinating repairs as required. Providing compassionate support to bus visitors, employing motivational interviewing and harm reduction techniques, and offering social service referrals. Offering volunteer opportunities for fellowship and service. Collaborating with The Night Ministry's health services team to provide counseling and HIV/STI testing at various locations. Conducting periodic community needs assessments and staying updated on relevant literature and resources. Carrying out special projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications

  • Three years experience engaging in outreach initiatives with the homeless population, or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and evidence of insurability.
  • Physically able to walk and/or stand on the street, in all seasons.
  • A general understanding of the communities we serve and an ability work in these communities.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nonessential skills:

  • Either currently have or a willingness to obtain a CDL Class B driving license.
  • Spanish language proficiency encouraged.

Compensation: $19 an hourAdditional Information:

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee must occasionally drive an automobile and the outreach bus; and lift and/or move 20 pounds.

Benefits: Full-time staff are entitled to full benefits after 30 days of employment, including medical, dental, vision, 401k, and more, starting 30 days after their employment commences.
