Type: Full-Time Contract

Reports to: Supervising Speech-Language Pathologist

Overview

A school in Florida is seeking a dedicated and skilled School-Based Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our team. The SLPA will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide essential speech and language services to students from preschool through high school. This role is critical in helping students achieve their communication and academic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Therapeutic Support:

    • Implement speech and language intervention plans as directed by the supervising SLP.
    • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions focusing on articulation, language, fluency, and social communication skills.
  • Assessment Assistance:

    • Assist in the collection of data for speech and language assessments.
    • Document student performance and progress accurately.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support student progress.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and student progress.
    • Prepare and submit reports as required by the supervising SLP.
  • Professional Development:

    • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in speech-language pathology.
Qualifications
  • Education and Certification:

    • Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting or a related field.
    • Valid SLPA license or certification in the state of Florida.
  • Experience:

    • Prior experience in a school setting is preferred.
    • Experience working with a diverse student population is advantageous.
  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of speech and language disorders.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
