The Workforce Group is currently seeking skilled Electrical Technicians to join our Disaster Emergency Response team. As an Electrical Technician in our Disaster Emergency Response team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment during emergency deployments. Your expertise will be crucial in restoring electrical functionality in disaster-affected areas. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Location: TBD based on activation
Availability: Ideal candidates for these response missions will be available to deploy within 24 to 72 hours of notification.
These are contract positions and, if activated, will likely require travel on short notice, generally lasting from several days to a few weeks and possibly 30 days or more, depending on the disaster response needs.
Expected Hours: 12hr shifts/7 days a week to support 24/7 operations.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in disaster-affected areas.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs under emergency conditions.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure readiness for deployment.
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics in emergency situations.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and electrical codes, even in challenging environments.
- Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and emergency response personnel to complete projects.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work conducted during deployments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or associate degree preferred. Certified as an Electrical Technician or equivalent certification. Proven experience as an Electrical Technician, preferably in emergency or disaster response settings.
- Willingness to be on emergency standby and deployed at short notice.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Working Conditions: This position requires the ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and potentially hazardous environments. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed during emergency deployments. Must be able to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
