Job DescriptionJob DescriptionTool MakerPay Range: $18.49 – $28.75 (Based on experience and skill set) Role:
  • Ensures that all tools are built or modified to client specifications and is able to run as efficiently as possible.
Quality Role:
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, etc. of mold to ensure conformance to specifications.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Set-up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machines to cut, bore, grind or otherwise create molds to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
  • Study prints to plan sequences of steps for maximum efficiency.
  • Select metals to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance.
  • Set pyrometer controls of heat-treating furnaces and feed or place molds or components in to harden.
  • Set-up and operate a wide range of machine tools and performs progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances.
  • Completion of shop documentation as required.
  • Follows all company policies and attendance guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • Ability to read, speak and write English.
  • Knowledge of plastic injection molding industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including reading blueprints.
  • Be proficient in the use of machinist hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Experience with a wide range of machining processes such as milling, turning, grinding, process planning, inspection and safety factors.
  • Experience in the set-up and operation of CNC machine tools and processes.
  • Ability to lift up to 55lbs.
