Role Overview: As the Venture Capital Software Engineer, you will be a key member of our technology team, responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support our investment processes, portfolio management, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with investment professionals and external stakeholders to design and implement scalable and robust software solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Software Development:

    • Design, develop, and deploy software applications and tools to automate investment analysis, portfolio monitoring, and reporting processes.
    • Implement backend systems, APIs, and data integrations to enhance operational efficiency and data management capabilities.

  2. Data Management and Analysis:

    • Build data pipelines and ETL processes to extract, transform, and load investment data from various sources for analysis and reporting.
    • Develop data models and algorithms to analyze financial performance, market trends, and investment opportunities.

  3. System Integration and Automation:

    • Integrate third-party APIs, data feeds, and external systems to streamline data workflows and enhance information retrieval and processing.
    • Implement automation scripts and workflows to improve operational processes and reduce manual tasks.

  4. Security and Compliance:

    • Ensure software solutions comply with security standards, data privacy regulations, and best practices in the financial services and venture capital industries.
    • Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain robust security measures and access controls.

  5. Collaboration and Support:

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams including investment professionals, data analysts, and portfolio company executives to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.
    • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues related to software applications and systems.

  6. Technology Research and Innovation:

    • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software development and data engineering.
    • Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance technical capabilities and operational efficiency within the firm.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, preferably within the financial services, fintech, or venture capital sectors.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Ruby, with experience in building scalable backend systems and APIs.
  • Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling principles.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with financial data analysis, investment processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
