The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for managing accounting and finance and ensuring proper alignment with business operations, including month-end close, reporting, forecasting, AR, AP, PR, budgeting, internal controls, etc.

Controller and related staff duties include:
  • Proactively supervise the Financial and Accounting staff to ensure deadlines are met and identify current business issues and potential exposures.
  • Analyzes and interprets financial data and recommends changes to improve systems, processes, and financial performance.
  • Partnering with the CFO to provide strategically oriented leadership and organizational development within the department to meet C2C’s long-range objectives.
  • Developing, enhancing, and documenting administrative practices and procedures.
  • The specific focus should be on the following:
    • Managing the company’s accounting, including project performance, account analysis and reconciliations
    • Supervising the review and preparation of balance sheet schedules monthly and for year-end audit
    • Managing cash (daily, weekly, monthly) via analysis and projections
    • Reporting monthly on the project and financial statement budget variances
    • Assisting business leaders with the development of appropriate KPI’s and reporting monthly on KPI variances
    • Ensuring the timely completion of weekly financial status and month-end close reports
    • Preparation of financial statements
  • Providing motivational leadership via coaching and mentoring of staff. Monitoring performance via specific, realistic, results-oriented performance goals with an emphasis on staff development, retention, and organizational development.
  • Function as an influential decision maker and internal expert knowledgeable about the general ledger, the accounting reports, and the financials
  • Function as an independent party who, in partnership with the CFO, reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns. Ensure that management and employees follow the rules and guidelines of regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Working with external auditors to ensure timely audit completion, including actions in response to findings and corrective action recommendations.
  • Develop and communicate reporting that business leaders can use to effectively manage their business.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Management experience required
  • NetSuite/Oracle experience preferred
  • Construction and engineering experience preferred
  • Experience in professional services (A&E) industry preferred
  • Demonstrated success working in a labor intense operational model
  • Detailed-oriented, highly organized, have excellent time management skills
  • Ability to communicate observations regarding financial and operating performance
  • Must be “hands-on” supporting staff as needed
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
