Job DescriptionJob DescriptionKatie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Controller role for a growing consumer products company in the Greater Reno area. This is a well rounded role that includes the oversight of a staff of 5 in accounting. Responsibilities include:
Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and providing
recommendations for improvement.
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
• Lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and corporate policies.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting and accounting processes.
• Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and reporting systems.
• Work closely with senior management to provide financial analysis and insights that drive business performance.
• Manage and mentor the Accounting Team, providing leadership and professional development.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital management.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve efficiency and effectiveness in financial operations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification is highly preferred.
• Experience:
o Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 5-7 years in a Controller or similar leadership role.
o Experience in managing accounting functions in a mid-sized or larger company, with a solid understanding of manufacturing or distribution operations.
o Technical Skills:
o Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
o Strong experience with SAGE or similar ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Must have a minimum of 10 years experience, including in a Controller role or similar position

• Proficiency in Accounting Functions is required

• Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Must have a strong background in Auditing

Must have experience with inventory, ideally in a manufacturing setting

• Familiarity with Budget Processes is essential

• Experience in managing Month End Close procedures

• Proficiency in Financial Statement Preparation is required

• Knowledge of Intacct software is preferred

• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel are required

• Must possess excellent communication and leadership skills

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting is required

• CPA is preferred

• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Proven ability to manage and lead a team effectively

• Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism.
