Radiologic Technologist

As a Radiologic Technologist, you will play a crucial role in obtaining quality radiographs of patients both within the department and using portable equipment, ensuring radiation safety for both patients and yourself, and operating radiographic equipment competently. You will be responsible for all necessary computer operations, verifying referring physician's orders, and entering accurate charges.
Specific Elements and Essential Functions:
- Obtain quality radiographs within an acceptable timeframe.
- Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and utilize Personal Protective Equipment.
- Operate radiographic equipment safely and competently.
- Perform necessary computer operations (i.e., Meditech and PACS) and ensure proper charges and verification of physician's orders.
- Render patient care professionally and courteously.
- Prepare examination rooms and monitor supply inventory.
- Assist radiologists in administering medications, contrast agents, and patient care.
- Review exams for technical accuracy and complete verification in PACS.
- Assist with PACS cleanup (e.g., clean CR plates, erase cassettes).
- Complete and maintain educational requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee and patient information.
**Education and Licensure:**
Required: Graduate of AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology. Continuing education credits as mandated by ARRT for licensure.
Licensure/Certification Required:
American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification within 6 months of hire.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification.
Preferred: Membership in the Society of Radiologic Technology and Virginia Society of Radiologic Technology.
Experience:
Preferred: Minimum of one year as a Radiologic Technologist, though new graduates are also welcome.
