We are looking for a transportation specialist to provide transportation services to residents of Friendship Manor in accordance with current federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and regulations and Friendship Manor policies to ensure that the transportation needs are met and to provide the highest quality care possible.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Happily and safely transport residents for scheduled outings and personal appointments.
· Cheerfully assist residents in boarding and exiting the van.
· When operating the Friendship Manor van, obey all traffic signs.
· When leaving residents at their destination, inform those residents the time and location when they will be picked up again.
· Assist residents with personal packages when boarding and exiting the van.
· Ensure the safety of residents by ensuring they are properly seated and their packages are safely stored before moving the van.
· Contact residents when scheduled van trips are changed, rescheduled, or canceled.
· Adjust the van schedule to incorporate emergency changes.
· Assist in the purchase and pick up of requested personal items of Nursing Center and Assisted Living residents and requested items of department heads.
· Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment for the safety and comfort of residents, as well as to create a positive image of Friendship Manor in the public.
· Report all hazardous equipment or conditions immediately to the Resident Services Director.
· Pick up supplies and orders for department heads.
· Deliver deposits, returned items, pick up packages, etc. to area businesses for department heads.
· Service van according to manufacturer’s specifications by checking and replenishing gasoline and oil.
· Maintain the interior and exterior of the van in a safe, clean, and comfortable manner.
· Keep track of the preventative maintenance that needs to be done on the van and schedule appointments for preventative maintenance and repairs.
· Assist the Resident Services Director in the setup for activities, during activities and with the cleanup after activities, as schedule permits.
· Attend and participate in scheduled in-services.
· Follow established Universal Precautions policies and procedures.
· Maintain CONFIDENTIALITY of all resident care information.

Requirements:

Requirements

· Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.

· Must possess a valid driver’s license from the State of Illinois.

· Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

· Must be able to operate a chair lift, in the proper manner, for resident boarding and exiting from van.

· Must be able to work with little to no supervision when performing van service duties.

· Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

· Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

· Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.

· Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.

· Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
