The Maintenance Technician at QuantumPoly Innovations is crucial for ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our plastic packaging production equipment. This role involves maintaining and repairing machinery used in manufacturing PET bottles, high-barrier films, thermoformed containers, and injection-molded caps for the food and beverage industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on plastic processing equipment, including injection molders, thermoforming machines, and extrusion lines
  • Maintain and repair auxiliary systems such as cooling towers, chillers, and material handling equipment
  • Collaborate with machine operators and supervisors to quickly resolve technical issues and minimize downtime
  • Propose and implement solutions for recurring problems to improve overall equipment effectiveness
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to schedules and manufacturer recommendations
  • Assist in production operations during critical periods or staff shortages
  • Document all maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment performance metrics
  • Ensure compliance with food-grade manufacturing standards and safety regulations
Essential Functions:
  • Interpret technical drawings and schematics specific to plastic processing equipment
  • Calibrate and fine-tune machinery to optimize performance for various packaging products
  • Work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Troubleshoot and maintain PLC systems and HMIs used in packaging production lines
  • Create detailed reports on equipment status and recommend improvements to enhance productivity
  • Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all safety protocols
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in plastic manufacturing or food packaging
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment for plastic processing machinery
  • Basic computer skills for operating modern manufacturing equipment and documenting work
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals for plastic processing and packaging equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in plastics engineering technology, mechatronics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in plastic packaging or food/beverage packaging industries
  • Hands-on experience with injection molding, thermoforming, and extrusion processes
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations and food-grade packaging requirements
  • Familiarity with Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLC systems used in packaging automation
  • Experience with servo motors, pneumatic systems, and temperature control units common in plastic processing
  • Understanding of polymer behavior and plastic material handling systems
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills for equipment modifications and repairs
