POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager is responsible for overseeing and supervising the YVLifeSet Team specialists that support the clients in the Transitional Living Programs. This includes monitoring day-to-day implementation of YVLifeSet, a model to address the needs of young people 17.5-21 who are transitioning out of care and need individualized skill development and support to transition successfully into adulthood, specifically obtaining and maintaining safe and suitable housing, continuing their education, learning independent living skills, obtaining and maintaining employment, building a support system, and remaining free from legal involvement. Supervises all transitional living program (TLP) Program Managers and assures compliance with policy and procedure; assures that the facility is maintained in an appropriate manner. Ensures CARE and TCI principles are implemented throughout programs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. The Manager is primarily responsible for serving as the clinical leader and direct supervisor for the team of 2 TLP YV LifeSet Team specialists. The team supervisor carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations' policies and applicable laws, and DCFS contract standards.
  2. The Manager provides clinical direction to the specialists based on the YVLifeSet Team model, which includes weekly management and facilitation of the group supervision process by direct case review, overseeing service plan development, and ensuring case progress.
  3. The Manager rotates on call 24/7 based on the program's on-call schedule to support young adults and specialists during crisis situations. The Manager may provide crisis intervention as needed.
  4. The Manager attends consultation and collaborates with the clinical consultant on staff development interventions.
  5. Additionally, the Manager ensures documentation and contractual requirements are met.
  6. The Manager assists with coverage for YVLifeSet Team specialists when needed (e.g. vacations and sick leaves), supports staff when attending court and in meetings with collateral contacts, and conduct field supervision to ensure YVLifeSet Team specialist competency.
  7. The Manager manages the professional development of each YVLifeSet Team specialist by developing a plan for each specialist and holds individual supervision meetings and staff meetings.
  8. The Manager is involved in the hiring and performance management of specialists and TLP staff, providing support and assistance to the team, professional development and training, reviewing service receipt and documentation, planning, assigning, and directing work, and collaborating with internal and external customers.
  9. Leads the team with reviewing referrals for placement. Anticipates openings and informs the Director of Child Welfare of up-coming openings in order to maximize occupancy. Initiates intake interviews with staff and referred youth. Updates DCFS central matching of admission decision.
  10. Oversees compliance with licensing and COA standards; Identifies facility maintenance issues and ensures managers submit work orders and purchasing requests as needed. Continually monitors conditions throughout the facility to assure that high standards of cleanliness are maintained and that no safety hazards exist.
  11. Ensure program staffing levels are consistent with best practice and licensing and contractual requirements of IL DCFS and other funders
  12. Ensure program services are of high quality and are practiced with fidelity to the CARE practice model and TCI crisis de-escalation techniques and meet the best interests of children.
  13. Adhere to agency personnel policies

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  1. A Master's Degree in Social Work or related human services field.
  2. LCSW or LCPC preferred.
  3. A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in the human services field.

REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 21 years of age

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Must possess and maintain proof of automobile insurance

CARE & TCI


One of the essential job functions of any position within the agency is to align your performance with our overarching philosophy of CARE. All decisions, actions, communication, and performance should align with the six CARE principles (Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Ecologically Oriented, Competence Centered, and Trauma Informed). Not only must you complete the CARE training with satisfactory participation, but you must then put that training into practice in your everyday work.


Every employee must also pass TCI training with a satisfactory grade in written and/or physical testing. All employees must remain current on refresher training that is provided monthly at all locations. You will be tested every 6 months on the physical portion, if applicable to your position. You will be tested annually on the written portion regardless of your position. If you are not current on your TCI refresher training every six months, you will be required to retake the full course. If you do not pass either test, you may be required to retake the full course. Not only must you complete the TCI training with satisfactory participation, but you must then put that training into practice in your everyday work.
