Flour Bakery + Cafe/Myers + Chang is searching for a Facilities Technician to help keep our restaurant and bakeries operating smoothly. The Facilities Technician will be based out of the Facilities Office in Boston and will report directly to our Facilities Director.

The Facilities Tech is an experienced tradesman with a curiosity for finding out the best solutions to fix, repair, and prevent problems with the facilities at both Flour and Myers + Chang.

On a daily basis, this role will be moving between several locations performing basic facilities, equipment, and aesthetic repairs. These repairs include tasks such as carpentry, painting, electrical work, basic commercial plumbing and general repairs for our spaces. This person will need to be able to handle the stress of last minute issues or changes as well as stay on task with regular repairs/maintenance. A typical day will consist of tasks ranging from a small repair, plumbing and understanding of faucets and drains, accurate drywall repair and painting, moving small equipment to locations, planning with the management team on the next steps for larger repairs, setting up or breaking down seasonal outdoor furniture, or following location punch lists in the bakeries. Some days this may mean hanging a piece of artwork and other days it may mean installing a new ice machine with our Facilities Team. A strong mechanical aptitude is required.

This is a 40hr benefits eligible position with occasional early morning/late evening hours. A company vehicle is provided.

Requirements:
  • MA Driver's License
  • On occasion, availability for early morning hours (5am) or late evening hours (7pm+)
  • Bi-weekly availability on weekends for emergency coverage scheduling
  • Ability to move large pieces of equipment with the help of the facilities team.
  • Strong and proper understanding of faucets and drains
  • Strong and proper knowledge/skill with drywall and paint
  • Ability to use digital work order software to prioritize task list
  • Possess basic hand tools in general trades
  • Basic knowledge and minimum 5 years experience in the trades not limited to Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Tile Work, Painting, Basic Remodeling, Drain Snaking, etc. Real knowledge is a must.
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with the use of basic power tools not limited to Drills, Table saws, Tile saws, etc.
  • Be able to use and work comfortably on ladders up to 16'
  • Has the willingness to be trained in light refrigeration equipment repair
  • The ability to troubleshoot, accurately and correctly convey information either verbally or written with regard to tasks
  • Ability to understand trade terminology and accurately convey information to Facilities Director
  • Good organizational skills and efficiency with tools and materials as well as the ability to prioritize
  • Has the ability to lift 50lbs or more with help and stand, bend, kneel, and crouch for reasonable periods of time to complete tasks
  • Must be able to present yourself in a professional, kind, and courteous manner
