The George Mason University Korea (Mason Korea) is seeking a positive and energetic person who is well organized and has a strong desire to work in the field of Student Housing. The Coordinator of Student Housing manages student housing at George Mason University Korea (Mason Korea).  At Mason Korea, we strive to support the educational, social, and cultural growth of the individual student and the overall residential community. The primary responsibilities include managing student housing available through the Incheon Global Campus Housing office.  Incheon Global Campus Foundation owns and operates the student housing available to Mason Korea students. We work collaboratively to provide a safe, student-centered environment that is inclusive of the global community and dedicated to enriching our students' experiences. This position will work closely with Mason Korea Liaison at the IGC Housing office.  The pay scale of the position is from 37,000,000 KRW to 42,000,000 KRW per year based on previous working experiences.

 

The position will be working within the team of University Life professional and student staff and directly report to the Associate Dean of University Life.  


50% HOUSING MANAGEMENT 

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with IGC Housing office regarding housing assignment, selection, break housing, check-in/out, and regular inspections. 
  • Maintain student and housing records regarding assignment, retention, and attrition, make regular reports and projections on occupancy.  
  • Manage the daily operation and organization of the Mason Korea students in collaboration with the IGC Housing office. 
  • Oversee the housing selection process within Mason Korea. 
  • Provide budget oversight and management of the residential services programs. 
  • Maintain the housing and residential life webpages within Mason Korea webpages. 
  • Develop, maintain, and expand off-campus housing options for students by working with local service providers.  
  • Support IGC Housing office in room change requests and disciplinary matters. 

 

20% SUPERVISION 

  • Recruit, interview, evaluate, select, and train Resident Assistant (RA) staff in collaboration with IGC housing and Mason Korea University Life team.  
  • Supervise, evaluate and lead a team of RAs including meeting regularly with individual RAs and leading RA meetings.   
  • Educate and hold staff accountable to all University policies, IGC policies and student staff expectations. 
  • Direct and support RAs in their administrative assignments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completion. 
  • Oversee and guide RAs in implementing activities for students living in student housing that support academic success, diversity, inclusion, and personal growth.  

 

20% UNIVERSITY SUPPORT 

  • Participate and contribute to broader University Life programs, events and initiatives, including new student welcome activities, family orientation, Mason Day, etc.  
  • Work on various campus committees and other special assignments as assigned by the administration or the supervisor. 

 

10% STUDENT SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT 

  • Address incidents of inappropriate behavior in/around residence halls using an educational and development approach when referred by IGC Housing or RAs. 
  • Assist with Student Care and Conduct to effectively resolve cases of student misconduct and violations of the Code of Conduct. 
  • Assist students with academic, vocational, personal concerns; connect students with on-campus resources when appropriate. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT 

  • Associate's degree  
  • High level of writing, speaking, and oral English and Korean communication skills   

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Experience with various student activities and leadership roles while attending university 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES  

  • Advocate for student needs 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies  
  • Be familiar with services and programs that supports student success within student housing 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects independently and work in an environment with regular interruptions 
  • Ability to work independently, analyze and made decisions related to program content  
  • Skill in program coordination, including communication, organization, facilitation, and independent decision-making  
  • Ability to maintain databases and update department websites 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities 
  • Proficient with operating a computer and various supporting software packages (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Calendar, Zoom) 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Require flexible hours, including occasional evening and weekend hours, with prior notice   
  • Work may require some physical exertion (I.e., standing, lifting, moving, etc.) 
  • Some work may be completed outside
