About the Role:

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Software Engineer I to join our team for a critical project under CMS's Center for Program Integrity (CPI). This position requires strong federal experience, preferably with CMS, and a solid background in software engineering. You will be working on a healthcare project that aims to enhance the integrity and efficiency of CMS programs and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications that meet the needs and expectations of CMS and other federal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the team to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using Java and JavaScript.
  • Develop front-end applications using Angular and JavaScript.
  • Implement backend services using Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
  • Integrate various system components using Camunda for process orchestration.
  • Perform unit and integration testing to ensure software quality and compliance with federal standards.
  • Maintain PostgreSQL databases and data management using Apache NiFi.
  • Deploy applications and manage infrastructure on AWS using containerization tools such as Kubernetes and Nginx.
  • Support the team in resolving technical issues and troubleshooting problems as they arise.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Experience:
  • 5-7 years of experience in software development for federal clients, preferably CMS.
  • Strong understanding of front-end and back-end development.
  • Proven experience in Agile software development lifecycle.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficiency in Java and JavaScript programming languages.
  • Expertise in Angular for front-end development.
  • Knowledge of Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with databases like PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with AWS and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of ETL processes using Apache NiFi.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards and regulations.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
