What Will You Do as a Direct Support Professional?

As a DSP, you'll:

  • Provide compassionate and personalized support to individuals with special needs, assisting them in their daily activities and promoting their independence.
  • Foster a safe and nurturing environment that encourages growth, development, and social interaction.
  • Collaborate with families, care advocates, and healthcare professionals to create individualized care plans and ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with personal care, medication management, and other activities of daily living as required.
  • Implement therapeutic strategies and behavior management techniques to support individuals with challenging behaviors.
  • Accompany individuals in their community, recreational activities, and appointments, ensuring their engagement and inclusion.

What We Look For:

No specific experience required We're looking for individuals who:

  • Have a genuine passion for working with individuals with special needs.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with individuals, families, and their advocacy teams.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to varying needs and situations.
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional relevant certifications or training are a plus.
  • Have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (may be required for some positions).
