We are currently accepting applications for a part time, seasonal Event Banquet Coordinator. The Event Banquet Coordinator is responsible for the setup/breakdown of event space, greeting guests, serving beverages, and creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. The event coordinator will work in close coordination with the hostel team including sales and the volunteer coordinator. Schedule is Monday evenings from 5 pm - 8:30 pm, and special events (approximately once a month).

Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand details of each event to include type of event, number of guests, location, setup needs, special requests, etc.
  • Setup event space according to group request, working in coordination with other hostel teams to ensure space is ready at start time.
  • Ensure signage (permits, licenses, etc.) are properly displayed at all times.
  • Greet guests in a courteous, friendly manner.
  • Verify identification and age requirements of guests. Provide wrist bands.
  • Report maintenance, security, or safety concerns to hostel management immediately.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks during events, adhere to health and safety standards; keep work area clean and organized.
  • Responsible for full breakdown of event space after each event, including but not limited to packing leftover inventory, cleaning, removing linens, folding chairs, moving tables as needed.
  • Update inventory counts, assist in maintaining complete inventory records and notify management of low or no inventory items at end of event.
  • Ensure all inventory is organized neatly back into storage, dispose of trash.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by hostel management.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • ServeSafe Certification or ability to get certification in a timely manner.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Previous banquet or server experience preferred.
  • A proven record of reliability, good attendance, teamwork skills and strong communication skills are essential.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements of the job:

  • Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 50lbs.

Monday Evenings from 5-8:30 pm (and occasional special events)
