Gymnastics Instructor

The Gymnastics Instructor is responsible for the supervision and leading of their group of program participants through programs that promote the YMCA mission of building a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Responsibilities:
- Take attendance.
- Collect program participant evaluations toward the end of the session when asked.
- Follow all discipline procedures and general rules and guidelines for working with young people. Make sure all program participants adhere to these rules. Severe and persistent behavior problems should be reported to the Gymnastics Director (or to the Lead Teacher, Assistant Head Coach or Coordinator in the absence of the Director).
- Provide quality gymnastics instruction under the supervision of gymnastics management staff.
- Administer first aid within the bounds of current certification. Fill out accident reports and submit immediately to the Gymnastics Director.
- Serve as a positive role model and leader for all children.
- Communicate clearly in a respectful and caring manner with all program participants, co-workers, and supervisors. Give feedback to participants and their parents on a regular basis.
- Assist in clean up at the end of each day, including props.
- Read and implement the gymnastics policies and procedures handout, which includes dress code, time off procedures, etc.
- Minimum of 16 years of age.
- Experience and background in child supervision. Experience may include minimum of 6 months of shadowing for youth instructors/instructors with no previous experience.
- Ability to model the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Strong leadership skills.
- YMCA Gymnastics Instructor or USAG PDP1 Certification preferred (will train).
- Obtain/maintain CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
- Ability to spot and teach skills, progressions and follow lesson plans.
