About the role
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements for multiple properties. Includes general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and internal/external audit and tax prep/compliance.
What you will do
- Participate in the month-end close process, ensuring all journal entries, account analyses, and reconciliations are completed and reviewed on a monthly basis and are in compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.
- Participate in monthly meetings to review financial statements with Asset Management.
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy in multiple entities (multi-member LLCs)..
- Complete all necessary reviews to ensure on time and accurate CAM Reconciliations
- Manage and provide the information to third-party tax preparers to complete Partnership tax returns for multi-member LLCs (Form 1065 and K-1)
About you
- 5+ years of direct work experience in property accounting (may be substituted for education degree)
- Strong GAAP and multi-member LLC knowledge and understanding
- Ability to prepare and analyze detailed financial statements and information
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
- Proactive communicator who can coordinate with team members, external tax preparers, etc.
- Experience with intercompany balancing and settlement
- Experience in various software such as QuickBooks, Rent Manager, NetSuite, Tipalti and corporate ERP-like systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Customer-Service mindset
- International experience preferred, but not required
