Position Description

The Youth Programs Instructor will provide guided instruction in art class using a variety of art concepts. The Youth Program Instructor will be responsible for teaching terminology and skills needed for teaching art for children. This can range from learning about the basic elements of art, such as exploring shapes, forms, and textures, to color theory and perspective. In the art classes children will have the opportunity to showcase their artistic and creative abilities. Children will learn the basics to painting using the medium of acrylic paints, paint brushes and given canvas. This position requires experience in teaching and leading children as well as the ability to develop or implement classes that are age appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience teaching art to children.
  • Strong character values (respect, responsibility, honesty, caring); strong communication skills; emotional maturity

Responsibilities

  1. Create classes that are interactive, safe and age appropriate.
  2. Organize instructional space and clean instructional area after class.
  3. Preplan class sessions.
  4. Be able to identify hazardous or at risk situations and report them to supervisor.
  5. Maintain a professional image and work harmoniously with staff and members.
  6. Attend meetings and trainings
  7. All other duties as assigned.
