Facilities Maintenance Worker

Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the organization's physical facilities and grounds. This role requires a versatile individual with a strong work ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks independently and as part of a team.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  1. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as painting, minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs, to ensure the functionality and safety of the organization's facilities.
  2. Inspect facilities and grounds regularly to identify and address potential maintenance issues or safety hazards.
  3. Respond to and resolve maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact.
  4. Conduct preventative maintenance activities to minimize the risk of equipment failure or facility damage.
  5. Maintain the organization's grounds, including landscaping, snow removal, and litter collection, to ensure a clean and welcoming environment.
  6. Collaborate with the facilities management team to develop and implement maintenance schedules, procedures, and safety protocols.
  7. Assist with the set-up and breakdown of equipment, furniture, and facilities for special events or meetings, as needed.
  8. Monitor inventory levels of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, and submit purchase requests as necessary.
  9. Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and policies, maintaining a safe working environment for all staff and visitors.
  10. Stay up to date on industry best practices, trends, and regulations related to facilities maintenance, and implement any necessary changes to maintain compliance and competitiveness.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in a maintenance-related field is a plus.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, preferably within the specific industry of the organization.
  3. Strong understanding of maintenance principles, practices, and safety procedures.
  4. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  5. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of facility-related issues.
  6. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  7. Ability to read & write in English; Effective communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and best practices related to facilities maintenance is a plus.
  9. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  10. Fingerprint Background & Child Abuse Index Clearances
  11. TB, Drug and Physical Test Clearance

Licenses & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Current California Driver’s License
  • Current Automobile Insurance

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Ability to Multi-Task in a high demand and interactive environment, with high quality results.
  • Ability to work in an environment with tight deadlines and high level of accountability.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule to meet operational needs.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, reach, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, and grasp for long periods of time changing positions frequently during work shift.
  • Must have full range of motion, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
