KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect while maintaining agency standards of confidentiality, professionalism and objectivity. 
  2. Provide intervention, evaluation/assessment, individual, group and family counseling to individuals affected by substance use disorders in the following treatment programs—partial/full day intensive outpatient, residential and halfway house.
  3. Develop and maintain a community referral network.
  4. Provide education and training to individuals, groups and agencies.
  5. Provide coordinated family treatment sessions for all residential/full day IOP patients and document in the patient file.
  6. Facilitate patient transition group, including development of relapse prevention and wellness plans, scheduling, and aftercare placement.
  7. Assume 24 hour on-call duty once every staff rotation.
  8. Maintain all regulatory, contract and documentation standards and data collection, and complete necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  9. Consistent collaboration and coordination of care between all Prairie Ridge services, including, but not limited to IHH and other services.
  10. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all documentation and reporting systems to include but not limited to IBHRS, Accreditation Now, MyOutcomes, ASAM, and Electronic Health Record.
  11. Participate in clinical staffing, clinical consultation, scheduled supervision, training activities, and all other pertinent recommendations.
  12. Proficiency in clinical practices identified as best practice by the agency demonstrated through supervision and direct observation.
  13. Collaborate/Coordinate care with Clinical Assistants/Recovery Coaches in order to ensure existence of an effective therapeutic environment.
  14. Demonstrate understanding and adherence to all CARF policies and procedures.
  15. Perform all other duties as assigned by Residential/IOP Clinical Director.


QUALIFICATIONS AND USEFUL SKILLS:

 

  1. Iowa Substance Abuse Counselor Certificate or license preferred; ability to complete certification or license within 1 year of employment considered.
  2. Bachelor's Degree in health related field required.
  3. Ability to provide training and educational presentations to individuals, groups and agencies.
  4. Understanding of the mission of Prairie Ridge and the patients we work with.
  5. Proficiency in delivering intervention, evaluation/assessment, group, individual and family counseling to persons affected by substance use disorders.
  6. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills, as well as record keeping.
  7. Technology skills allowing for proficiency in use of electronic health record.
  8. Physical demands: The employee frequently lifts and moves up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
