The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside has been proudly serving children and families since 1967. We are one of the premier non-profits in the Inland Empire and looking for a Events Manager to join our team. Boys & Girls Clubs are recognized as leading advocates for youth who provide girls and boys with effective diverse programs and services; and demonstrate that caring adults can truly help young people grow into contributing human beings with the necessary skills for living. Boys & Girls Clubs are united by a common mission to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to become responsible, productive and caring citizens. The Club’s impact extends throughout several sites across the Inland Empire, Redlands, and areas of the High Desert.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Events Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction in identifying and creating opportunities to build public awareness of Club services, programs and activities. The Manager works closely with the Board of Directors’ Marketing Manager, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Chief Philanthropy Officer to plan and coordinate special events that meet program or fund raising goals. Evaluates and reports results, with recommendations for modifying events to improve success.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Strategic Planning
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of special events, working with Club staff and volunteers to coordinate activities and facilitate communications.
- Negotiate with vendors and sponsors to obtain space, refreshments/catering, audio-visual needs, event journals and all related materials and resources that ensure event success.
- Develop and implement strategies to gain community engagement and increase participation in events
- Foster and maintain relationships with community partners and sponsors to ensure continual engagement and event success
Event Planning
- Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of events, including fundraising galas, clubhouse events, community activities, and special programs.
- Oversee all aspects of event management, including logistics, budgeting, and coordination with vendors and stakeholders.
- Ensure events are executed smoothly and professionally, meeting or exceeding expectations of participants and sponsors.
- Coordinate with Club staff to ensure proper coordination and execution of Club events
Resource Development & Management
- Contribute to attaining financial support:
- Plan creative events that facilitate solicitation of donations from target audiences
- Collaborate with the Director of Individual & Corporate Giving to identify and recruit corporate sponsors to underwrite event expenses or to donate gifts, cash or in-kind services to minimize expenses.
- Develop and manage event budgets, track expenses, and report on financial performance
- Assist in recruitment, training, and management of volunteers for events
Program and Service Management
- Ensure effective program implementation and administration, making sure all event and related logistics and support activities are carried out as scheduled
- Evaluate success of special events, as determined by appropriate measures such as attendance, revenues generated, public relations activity, enrollment in Club programs, etc.
Marketing and Public Relations
- Collaborate with Director of Marketing to ensure events and sponsorships are promoted
ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Relationships
- Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club management to exchange information, seek and give assistance, consultation and direction. Maintains contact with financial staff and support staff. Maintains verbal and written contact with volunteers and volunteer committees.
- External: Maintain contact with community and corporate leaders, media contacts, schools, parents and local residents to encourage participation in scheduled special events and provide information regarding club activities and needs.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys or Girls Club or similar not-for-profit organization with an emphasis on special events planning and implementation, marketing, project management, budgeting, community and public relations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Mobility: Ability to move between multiple locations, walk, stand, and occasionally climb stairs.
- Manual Dexterity: Proficient use of a computer keyboard and office equipment.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to read and analyze documents.
- Hearing: Adequate hearing for communication in person and over the phone.
- Lifting: Occasional lifting.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure strict adherence to grant requirements.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for grant applications and reporting.
- Stress Management: Handle high-pressure situations calmly.
