Job Summary Statement


The CNC Programmer & Set-up Tech must be able to write G-Code programs either by Machine User Interface &/or CAD/CAM Package as well as develop set-ups that produce high quality machined parts either on our Haas Mills or Lathes. Have 4th Axis Vertical milling as well as barfed Mill/Turn capabilities with Dual Spindle Lathes, Y-Axis, C-Axis, Live Tooling for versatile 4-Axis capability along with integrated robotic loading/unloading.

Responsibilities


Follow all company policies, ISO9001 procedures, workmanship standards, work instructions and safety rules.

Programming and Setup

- Develop and optimize CNC programs for a variety of machines using CAD/CAM software.

- Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, setup sheets, program printouts and specifications to create accurate programs.

- Set up CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers, to ensure they operate efficiently and accurately.

- Select proper fixturing, work holding, tooling, inserts, speeds, feeds to provide sustained production to print specifications.


Quality Control

- Conduct first article inspections to ensure parts meet all specifications and tolerances.

- Perform in-process inspections and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards.

- Work closely with the quality control team to resolve any discrepancies or issues.

- Insures documents results are maintained on checklists, inspection reports or work orders

- Insure any measuring devices used are within calibration.


Troubleshooting and Maintenance

- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with CNC machinery and programs to minimize downtime.

- Perform routine maintenance and preventive care on CNC equipment.

- Collaborate with maintenance technicians for more complex repairs and upgrades.


Process Improvement

- Analyze machining processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

- Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and enhance productivity.

- Stay updated on the latest advancements in CNC technology and integrate new methods as appropriate.


Training and Mentorship

- Train and mentor junior CNC programmers and operators.

- Develop and update training materials and standard operating procedures.

- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.


Collaboration and Communication

- Work closely with design engineers, production managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless production workflows.

- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and priorities.

- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss project progress and address any challenges.


Documentation and Reporting

- Maintain accurate records of programming files, setup sheets, tool lists, and other relevant documentation.

- Generate reports on machine performance, production output, and quality metrics.

- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies in all programming and setup activities.


Safety and Compliance

- Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.

- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards regarding CNC operations.

- Lead and practice safe working habits at all times and wear any necessary personal protective equipment.

- Conduct regular safety audits and participate in safety training programs.

- Performs proper and safe material handling.

- Maintain a clean working environment.

Requirements:

Skills/Experience/Education Required

  • CAD / CAM - (Currently Utilize Solutionware & ProE/CREO)
  • G-Code programming knowledge
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints/drawings
  • Must be proficient in use of Measuring Tools & Gaging
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Advance shop mathematics
  • Use of Workholding / Fixturing
  • Prior Haas experience

** 3D Printing / Additive Manufacturing Experience a plus

** Prior Experience using 3D Part Laser Scanner a plus
