Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionThe Greater Boston YMCA is seeking a Social Worker to support our Child Development teams with training, implementation of positive behavioral supports and interventions. The Social Worker will have expertise in working with families and youth at risk and understands child behavior with the knowledge of setting up supports and interventions for student success in an out of school time environment.

The Social Worker will be dedicated to advance the safety, health and productivity of children in our Out of School environments and summer camps.
Key ResponsibilitiesSpecific Responsibilities May Include:

· Assesses the social emotional needs of children and makes referrals for services, supports, resources and referrals for children and families.

· Provides on-site and virtual support to program staff around positive behavior guidance through training, modeling and coaching.

· Available to support meetings with parents, families, social workers and wrap-around team members.

· Facilitates staff support meetings and professional development, as needed.

· Attends meetings with organization’s partners such as school districts, local mental health agencies, etc.

· Connects with community organizations to gather resources and build partnerships.

· Assists with recruitment, placement, and supervision of Social Worker Interns.

· Travels between sites as needed.
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseQualified Candidates will possess an upbeat, mission focused, can-do attitude.

· Compassion for supporting children and families.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Strong case management, communication and organizational skills.

· Knowledge of school age children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

· Demonstrated professional skills in the areas of staff development; program goal setting; and establishing procedures for evaluating the progress of individual children and staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· Master’s degree in social work plus a minimum of two years’ experience working with school age children. (or similar criteria as set by Child Development staff.)
