We are looking for a detailed-oriented, energetic, self-starting Staff Accountant candidate to contribute to all activities of the General Accounting and Financial Reporting functions of the company including the financial close process, internal and external reporting, performing technical accounting research, A/R, A/P. general ledger, cash management and risk management. Reporting to the Controller, the candidate will also be responsible for contributing towards an audit-compliant system of internal controls and processes that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared on a timely basis, in compliance with US GAAP.  
Key ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Duties: 

  • Support revenue recognition systems and processes, identifying automation opportunities and helping to ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems
  • Partner with operations and budgets/contracts colleagues to implement best practices in a scalable manner.  Partner with finance and operations leads to establish and report on revenue-based performance metrics.  Maintain a positive, results oriented work environment, building partnerships within the team and across the organization at large, modeling teamwork. 
  • Pursue timely collections of AR from sponsors/CROs (visits and invoiceables)
  • Support month-end close, bank and management reporting, and the annual financial audit 
  • Oversee and refine the process for monthly, quarterly, and closeout reconciliations (with support)
  • Ensure proper GAAP accounting principles are being followed.
  • Support the implementation of a single ERP, single chart of accounts, and associated trainings across the enterprise
  • Complete various aspects of G/L accounting including preparation/processing journal entries as well as reconciling accounts
  • Complete all accounts receivable deposits
  • Assist with the year-end audit, including i) responding to audit inquiries, ii) providing audit documentation, iii) preparing key analysis to support Company’s position
  • Communicate with customers regarding balances, questions, and/or discrepancies, if needed
  • Special projects, as needed 
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and efficiencies
  • Perform all other duties that may be requested or assigned

Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseMinimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field, AND 3+ years of accounting experience, OR and equivalent combination of education and experience is required.  Experience with account reconciliation and journal entry preparation is required. Experience working in a clinical research/life sciences environment is preferred.
