PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • The Physical Therapist Assistant will assist the Physical Therapist in providing Physical Therapy services to inmates in the corrections setting.
  • Implementing the exercise program outlined by the Physical Therapist, progression of exercise using available equipment, use of modalities, use of manual techniques where needed, and functional activities.
  • Relating treatment to documented goals.
  • Assessing the patient response to treatment and adjusting exercises and other treatments accordingly.
  • Identifying any change in patient condition and notifying the Physical Therapist of need for reassessment, if not time for regular reassessment. Keep track of visits and notify Physical Therapist when reassessment and/or supervision is due.
  • Documenting treatments and patient response thoroughly
  • Maintaining professional relationship with other staff members and maintain a positive work atmosphere through communicating in a professional manner.
  • Maintaining a tidy, clean work area.
  • Obeying all security rules for medical personnel in corrections setting as outlined in DOC policies.

PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree in physical therapy as evidence by college diploma from an accredited PTA program
  • Current, unencumbered, and active license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Delaware
  • Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
