The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) seeks a research intern to provide assistance responding to research requests, conducting literature reviews, and maintaining research databases.

In this role, you will provide research support for tobacco control advocacy efforts in countries around the world. As an intern for the Global Tobacco Research team, you will be exposed to an important public health issue globally and an international framework that guides our research and advocacy work. We see our interns as important contributors to the team and include them in daily communications and weekly meetings related to CTFK’s advocacy efforts.

This role is best suited for students that can work 20-29 hours per week.

Potential Start Date: August 2024


WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPISH:

  • Maintain electronic records of research articles and help to distribute new research and conduct searches on tobacco documents and secondary sources in areas of interest.
  • Assist in responding to rapid research requests for facts and research documents from in-country partners and staff.
  • Translate findings from reports, technical documents, and webinars into alerts, fact sheets, presentations, letters, or case studies for dissemination.
  • Regular organization and maintenance of department files.
  • Assist with organization and assessment of economic data related to tobacco taxes.
  • Assist with general office duties such as emailing documents, creating spreadsheets, proofreading materials, and creating PowerPoint presentations.
  • Participate in team meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or working toward graduate degree.
  • Interest in public health or tobacco control issues, policy, and research.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including editing and proofreading with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage projects both individually and as a team.
