Scope of Work:

The primary purpose of this position is to perform dishwashing duties in a food service environment to ensure that the kitchen has a steady supply of clean plates, bowls, silverware, pots, pans, and glasses in accordance with the standard procedures of the DFAC kitchen department.

Responsibilities:

Work involves, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain a clean & sanitary kitchen area.
  • Keep dish area free of clutter and organized.
  • Properly wash and sort soiled dishes.
  • Ability to manually or mechanically wash and rinse dishes, glasses, and silverware.
  • Maintain proper temperature for sterilization.
  • Manages soap distribution as needed.
  • Maintains clean and dry floors throughout the shift.
  • Will be required to clean equipment and maintain sanitation standards.
  • Display good customer relation skills and take initiative to greet guests in a friendly manner.
  • To meet contractual requirements, employees may be required to stay onsite for exercises or real-world events (e.g. 24-hour lockdown)
  • Must be able to start as early as 5:30am, Monday through Friday.
  • Complete all training within required timeline.
  • Perform all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Consistently produces quality products and service.
  • Performs all assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance prior to start.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • To meet contractual requirements, employees may be required to stay onsite for exercises or real-world events (e.g. 24-hour lockdown)
  • Must be able to start as early as 5:30am, Monday through Friday.
  • Must satisfactorily complete Food Service Medical Clearance (Tri Service Food Code – TB Med 530)
  • One (1) year of experience working in a commercial or military kitchen preferred.
  • Successful completion of training on the safe use of chemicals, understanding of manufacturer’s product labels, and information contained on material safety data sheets (MSDSs) IAW Title 29, Code of Federal Regulation Part 1910.1200 is required.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team, or alone, and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Must possess the ability to interact well with others in a team setting ability or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and operating instructions.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for successful completions of assigned tasks
  • Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with internal and external customers, coworkers, and management.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Highly motivated, flexible organized and must be detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • The worker must be able to endure the conditions of and be able to work in a commercial kitchen environment (extreme heat/cold etc.).
  • Duties will require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, crawling, reaching, and balancing. Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • May require (estimated to be less than 5%) periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary.
  • Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
