Job Summary:

Compass Systems is seeking a senior individual with prior Tiger Shark UAV training, instructing, and operations experience. This position will require extensive knowledge of multiple models of the Tiger Shark aircraft. FAA Private Pilot Certificate is required. A NAVAIR direction letter, showing the applicant has at one time designated as Tiger Shark, EP/IP/AVO, is required. Applicant will be required to work in support of all aircrew positions on Compass Systems Flight Team, and assist with systems integration, and testing of onboard and off-board systems. Applicant should be well-versed in Tiger Sharks UAV’s specifically and aircraft/aviation in general. Prefer some experience/knowledge with the V-BAT UAV platform as well. Experience with other UAV types is a plus. Knowledge of Ground and Flight Operations procedures at Yuma AZ. and Wallops VA. is a plus.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be able to act as a team lead for UAV field exercises and flight operations.
  • Operate/Fly all models of Tiger Shark UAV’s in accordance with DoD and FAA rules
  • Must participate in Mobile Cross Country Operations (transport of aircraft, GCS, Antennas, and all other items required to conduct flight operations at remote locations).
  • Must be proficient in computer skills, and use applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Tiger Shark GCS software, Electronics Scales, Radio Setup applications etc.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute integration, ground tests, and flight tests ensuring seamless interactions between various components of the V-BAT and Tiger Shark UAV platforms

Other Job Functions:

  • Prepares Test Plans
  • Prepare responses to Government Flight Representative (GFR)
  • Communicate technical Information to Flight Clearance offices, Government and Compass Systems Management
  • Prepare status reports
  • Prepare Trip Reports
  • Lead preflight and post flight briefings
  • Document Aircraft specific flight information
  • Some general mechanical and electrical maintenance of UAVs is required in preparation for and between flights
  • Contributes to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation
  • Actively participate in discussions on improvements, optimizations, and innovations
Requirements:

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

  • NAVAIR Direction Letter showing the applicant has at one time been designated as Tiger Shark, EP/IP/AVO is required
  • Minimum of five years of experience operating Tiger Shark UAVs
  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation or engineering field is desired
  • FAA Pilot Certificate is required
  • Applicant must have V-BAT operator/pilot experience and be proficient in V-BAT-specific AVO skills
  • SECRET Clearance must be in force at time of application for this position or must be able to rapidly reactivate, or transfer Secret Clearance.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to learn and apply new information and/or skills. Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents. Occasionally will need to lift/and or move up to 45lbs. Occasional work travel may be required, up to 30%. Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that could include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times.
