Job Summary

The SUD Grant Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and performing a variety of contract and administrative grant duties for the prevention, treatment and recovery of substance use services. The Grant Coordinator works to implement OCHN’s strategic vision and plan within the service network, including initiatives and projects that advance service recipient involvement, quality outcomes, performance improvement, cost analysis and contract development and oversight.

Essential Functions

  • Grant project planning, administration and oversight for treatment and recovery grants. Provide support for prevention grants regarding data reporting.

  • Lead, develop and implement grant strategies including research, policy and procedure development / refinement, training, project evaluation / outcome analysis, and service recipient/ stakeholder input.

  • Oversee grant program implementation with contracted providers.

  • Analyze system data, identify trends, monitor usage of services within populations served, provide written reports. Provide recommendations for improvement plans.

  • Coordinates the identification, development, and implementation of needed training within the designated population groups to ensure that SUD Service organizations/staff have the necessary skills to provide quality services and outcomes.

  • Coordinates with relevant internal staff and stakeholders regarding upcoming deadlines and program requirements.

  • Conduct annual audits for grant providers to ensure contract compliance and quality service delivery.

  • Submit monthly and quarterly grant progress reports using the MDHHS electronic grant management system.

  • Collaborates with other OCHN departments on request for proposals, contracting, budgeting and electronic health record needs for grant programs.

  • Participate in meetings, workgroups, and committees with other OCHN Teams as assigned.

  • Perform relevant research to identify available grant opportunities.  

  • Implement identified initiatives and projects related to local, state, and federal collaborative activities. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Master's degree in relevant discipline preferred. 

Preferred Training Requirements

  • State of Michigan licenses, certification and / or registrations as Psychologist (LLP, FLP), Social Worker (LMSW, LLMSE), Counselor (LPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • For Substance Use Disorder Services: Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) credentials of CAADC or CADC, or MCBAP CADC or CAADC Development Plan.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in human services administration, contract management, or related area, preferably in the public sector.

  • Preference for experience in providing clinical services in the public sector.

Job Specific Competencies/Skills:

  • Working knowledge of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) SUD Administrative Rules.

  • Working knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code.

  • Working knowledge of Michigan Medicaid rules and regulations.

  • Familiarity with Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) certification standards and processes.

  • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance, quality monitoring and report writing.

  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and monitoring of budgets.

  • Minimum of 1 year developing quality initiatives, data collection, data analysis including Dashboards.

  • For children’s services - Demonstrated understanding of family systems approaches and commitment to serving children within their family and community.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with contractors and community partners.

  • Ability to create system change through implementation of practices which also includes monitoring.

  • Understanding of utilization management

  • Knowledge of Health Care Systems desired

  • Knowledge about OCHN Substance Use Disorder and Core Provider Agencies and services.

  • Knowledge of DSM-IVR, DSM-V, and ASAM criteria.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

  • Demonstrated effective negotiation skills. 

  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills. 

  • Demonstrated effective computer skills. 

Preferred competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance and quality monitoring. 

  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and monitoring of budgets. 

  • Demonstrated experience in cost accounting.

Additional Information:

  • Must have available means of transportation to and from OCHN and for required offsite meetings or site visits.

  • Must be available for meetings and events which may occur outside of standard office hours.

  • Work performed primarily in an office environment.

  • Hybrid (onsite/remote) work schedule available.
