Job Title: CNC Machinist/ Programmer III

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $25.21 - $36.54/hour

Reports to: Operations Manager

Location: Onsite.

KULR Technology Location: Webster, Texas

Travel: Up to 10% travel (local).

Position Overview:

Under general supervision, the CNC Machinist/ Programmer III is responsible for operating CNC machines to fabricate parts, assemble components, and ensure high-quality production output in a safe and timely manner. The CNC Machinist will play a crucial role in programming machines, utilizing CAM programming, running CNC machines and utilizing precision tools to meet Engineering and production requirements efficiently. This person will also maintain and utilize commercial production equipment Mills, lathes, and other power and hand tools in the fabrication of KULR’s production parts, components and fixtures.

Functions:

  • Programs, sets up, and operates CNC milling, lathe, or other machinery according to blueprint specifications. Utilizes G or M code and CAM software (Solidworks CAM, MasterCAM, CAMWorks or others).
  • Tests accuracy of settings and programs. Inspects parts using precision measuring tools.
  • Operates machines and monitors operation and control panel displays to detect malfunctions and make adjustments.
  • Follows all safe work practices & safety rules. Trains and mentors other machinists in writing and modifying G-Code programs.
  • Operate CNC machines, manual mills and lathes to fabricate parts according to specifications.
  • Review CNC program output, part references, tooling and compare against drawings, travelers, and work instructions to ensure correlation.
  • Select all equipment and tooling required for the operation based on instructions.
  • Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated prior use.
  • Inspect all machined features and compare to drawing to ensure specified dimensions.
  • Perform minor program edits before and during machining operations to improve OEE.
  • Ensure work area is clean and clear of all obstacles to minimize risk of injury.
  • Follow company policy to wear supplied Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ability to machine parts with tolerances down to .0005".
  • Ability to use measurement/inspection tools required for dimensional checks during machining process.
  • Strong knowledge of machine cutting tools (drills, endmills, boring bars, inserted cutters, etc.....)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and work instructions.
  • Conducts regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical systems, including automated machinery, motors, pumps, compressors, conveyors, and other equipment.
  • Develops, implements, and documents equipment maintenance plans.

REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years of related experience in CNC programing and CNC machine operation.
  • Science, technology or math background preferred.
  • SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • SolidWorks CMM experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Experience using 3, 4 and 5 Axis CNC milling.
  • Skilled using manual mills, lathes, table saw, drill presses, and other power and hand tools.
  • Skilled using CNC Machine Programming (SolidWorks CAM)
  • Highly proficient in CAD software (Solidworks)
  • Skilled in Precision Machining
  • Skilled in Precision Measurement and Quality Inspection
  • Ability to read Part Drawing/Blueprints/Diagrams
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and tools.
  • Skilled in engineering support (prototyping and debugging).
  • Knowledgeable of reporting test result (charts, tables and graph)
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others, build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to accomplish business objectives.
