Peninsula Plastics is expanding and we are looking to add a motivated and highly talented individual to take the role of CNC Programmer in our Pattern Shop department.

Location: 1200 Auburn Ave, Pontiac, MI 48342

Shift: Day Shift (8 to 10hrs Monday to Friday)

Pay: $60,000 to $70,000 annually


Job Description:

The CNC Programmer will help with the creation of wood patterns, fabrication of cast aluminum tools for production, and overseeing the functions of all CNC equipment. The CNC Programmer will also have good woodworking skills, metalworking skills, and excellent CNC programming abilities.

Reports to: Pattern Shop Manager

Responsibilities:

  1. CNC Programming 3-axis, 3+2 axis, and 5 axis CNC machines on a variety of materials including wood, plastic, foam, metal, etc. Using G-code and M-code programming language
  2. Setting up and Operating CNC machines. Designing and manufacturing fixtures to accommodate all machining and trimming projects as well as GD&T driven check fixtures.
  3. Designing and engineering custom projects and jobs with varying criteria as needed by production and management
  4. Using fabrication skills to support projects and jobs needed by production and management through the use of carpentry, welding, etc.
  5. Troubleshooting and maintaining a variety of machine tools and CNC machines
  6. Manage the flow and schedules of tooling from the CNC department to production
  7. Working with customers to provide quality parts that meet custom specifications
  8. Quoting and procuring all necessary materials for the daily operation of the CNC Department and Pattern Shop when necessary
  9. Produce wood patterns for Prototyping
  10. Produce aluminum patterns for production
  11. Create/Modify/Repair fixtures used to make thermoformed plastic components
  12. Fill out ISO and procedure driven documentation.
  13. Perform and document calculations used to judge quality during production
  14. Maintain inventory of items needed to complete jobs on your schedule

Qualifications:

- Journeyman Pattern Maker preferred qualification

- CNC programming, operating, set-up, and maintenance experience

- Design engineering experience

- Skilled in fabrication

- CAD/CAM design and programming experience required. Solidworks/HSMworks experience preferred

- Held previous position in management/leadership

- Ability to use measuring equipment (Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Steel Rules, etc.)

- Expert in the use of Pneumatic tools: Die Grinder, 90 Degree Grinder/Drill, etc.

- Experience with band Saw, Table Saw, and Disk Grinder

- Bridgeport preferred but not required.

- Able to work independently on projects and as a member of a team

- Great motivational and people skills

- Must be self-motivated

- Must be willing to learn new things

- Ability to think outside the box
