Job Summary:
This is a requirement for Air Show Coordinator (ASC) The Air Show Coordinator shall provide a depth of knowledge, experience, and serve as the principal advisor to the Commander concerning policies and procedures affecting the Air Show. The Air Show Coordinator will develop and coordinate programs, goals, objectives, and other activities in order to ensure implementation of the Commander’s decisions.
Qualifications:
Strong communications skills, including the ability to interact efficiently with Marine Corps Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, and Civilian Employees. The coordinator must demonstrate the ability to connect and establish effective relationships and communications with the local and joint community, to include civilian State and local governments, private organizations, Federal agencies, and representatives from all members of the Joint Armed Services Community.
Must possess thorough knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, etc., that will affect the successful development and coordination of the 4 phases associated with conducting an Air Show (planning, preparation, execution, and post air show).
Must demonstrate thorough understanding of the unique geography, how it affects selection of performance acts, and the challenges it presents as related to risk factors and logistics.
Must possess knowledge of generally acceptable project management processes and ability to apply them in a highly complex environment
Must demonstrate knowledge of general government and local regulations and command directives concerning Air Shows and special events. Furthermore, the contractor must demonstrate the ability to use initiative by developing implementing programs and further instructions based upon written and oral guidelines.
Must have extensive prior experience working as Air Show Event Owner (Director/Coordinator) of complex air shows.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT:
Air Show Coordinator is responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution service in support of the 2022 Kaneohe Bay Air Show.
Facilitate the Coordination and monitoring of the efforts of air show committee members responsible for securing military performers:
- Obtain all necessary Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) waivers and airspace.
- Develop the air show layout and set up: performer and static display logistics.
- Coordinate parking, traffic, medical security, manpower plans, and environmental plans.
- Coordinate with legal, installation and logistics, Provost Marshal’s Office and public affairs.
- Ensure military performer, civilian performer, and support personnel needs and requirements are met.
- Arrange for ground communications as required in coordination with Communications (S-6).
Develop and coordinate programs, goals, objectives and other activities in order to facilitate implementation of the decisions of the Commander.
- Maintain Air Show policies and by-laws.
Attend community events creating awareness and spreading information regarding the air show to the local community.
Organize and facilitate selected meetings and functions Throughout life of the contract.
Foster continuity and favorable relationship with the local community.
Ensure the Air Show's risk management program is cogent and effectively implemented.
Prepare the military installations specific deadlines for requests aboard the installation.
Develop and publish Air Show Letter of Instruction (LOI).
Coordinate with Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) for the air show business activities including: seating, signage, manpower, sponsorship, marketing, souvenir program development, air show web sites, consumer fair, food and beverage concessions, novelty sales and radio and television coverage.
Work closely with Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) to facilitate the administration of Air Show contractors.
Work closely with MCCS to develop a program and ensure availability of a variety of acts.
Provide orientation briefing to all incoming support personnel.
Coordinate the publishing, printing, and mailing of the Air Show newsletter in coordination with MCCS.
Coordinate with MCCS to provide five day/week "live" telephone coverage -this can include the use of the Air Show's answering machine with daily monitoring.
Attends and/or speaks to various air show conventions, commercial or military air shows or air show-related activities and events to include but not limited to:
Attend and prepare minutes for all Air Show meetings.
Attend Community Board Meetings.
Attend necessary airport commission and city council meetings.
Attend city and state elected official meetings.
Address noise complaints and inform on air show.
Attend Boy Scout meetings and Sea Scout meetings.
Attend 99’s functions.
Attend Museum functions.
Attend Rotary Club meetings.
Meet with local Business Owners.
Meet with potential sponsors.
Attend National local air show “Lead in Events” held at water parks, malls, car shows, charity fund raisers and local business events.
