Role Summary:

As the (Meeting & Event Sales Manager), you will work in tandem with the team and Community Director in bringing life to Kiln Gilbert by inviting businesses and entrepreneurs to utilize our beautiful site for gatherings and events. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for all meetings and events and spearhead sales and negotiations with creativity and strategy - driving revenue for the property.


Not only will you be the driver and catalyst for the creation of these accounts, but you’ll provide visibility of your efforts to cross functional teams and stakeholders by delivering accurate meeting & event revenue and expense forecasts according to established guidelines. We are seeking an experienced and passionate events manager looking for a home and career that allows for growth, and the application of their ingenuity in bringing the vibrance of Gilbert into these four walls.


Goals and Objectives: 

Support the Community Management team to achieve the following:

  • Personifies Kiln’s core values and strives to achieve our mission
  • Create a welcoming and collaborative community environment amongst our members through events and building relationships between members
  • Ensure that assigned Kiln facilities are fully operational and processes are running smoothly
  • Drive growth and promotion of Kiln-provided service offerings
  • Take direction from the Community Director to support the Community Team as required 


Key Relationships:

  • Cross-functionality between other locations 
  • Member communication


Major Responsibilities:

  • Solicit, negotiate and generate contracted revenues from volume prospects that meet targets established in the Kiln meeting and event quarterly revenue goals.
  • Employ revenue management techniques and strategies to recommend meeting and event add-ons and upsells
  • Accurately prepare and present proposals that provide high value for both clients and Kiln. 
  • Prospect for new contract business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales, attending community functions, internet prospecting, supplier partnerships, trade journals, etc.
  • Develop, implement and constantly modify sales action plans
  • Negotiate and close contracts that meet Kiln’s business plan objective. Desired arrival, departure and volume patterns must be met to align with operational requirements.
  • Manages and coordinates catering and event service activities and client specifications to deliver smooth execution of executive meetings and events requiring space, food and beverage services. 
  • Manages meeting and event scheduling to promote high volume, including coordinating staffing and support for larger meetings and events.
  • provides accurate meeting and event revenue and expense forecasts according to established guidelines. Presents monthly progress reports to the leadership team. 
  • Manages and distributes function and event changes to onsite stakeholders during function execution
  • Monitors client specifications to promote smooth execution and client satisfaction. 
  • May be called on to hose functions and participate in, or conduct sales blitzes, travel and work extended hours to achieve departmental goals
  • All other duties as assigned or needed.


Ideal Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major highly preferred
  • Five years' experience preferred, minimum of three years’ experience in hotel/resort sales experience or the equivalent amount of industry experience; or , equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and reliable transportation to drive to appointments
  • Ability to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of increasing revenues, controlling costs, providing a return on investment while consistently delivering a high level of service
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and execute a high volume of meetings and events seamlessly
  • Ability to coordinate and manage temp/part-time staff to support meeting and event needs
