Responsibilities
The Mainspring team and the Mainspring Linear Generator rely on the expertise of the members of the Software Operations team to provide DevOps support to ensure that production systems are operational, CI and development systems work for the Engineering team, and new Linear Generators can be deployed successfully and efficiently.
Mainspring Energy has an opportunity for an experienced DevOps engineer to have an immediate impact on the automation of production and development environments with the philosophy that any software process can be automated.
As a member of the Software Operations team you will:
- Develop reliable, efficient, and scalable solutions for improving and maintaining product infrastructure in GCP and AWS as well as the computer network within the Linear Generator.
- Collaborate and share responsibility with the software operations and development teams developing reliable and scalable solutions including code reviews, retrospectives, and documentation.
- Own projects that improve the automation of product and development processes for provisioning, deployment, manufacturing, and maintenance.
- Develop automation using modern IaC solutions like Terraform and Ansible while augmenting processes with scripts written in Python or tools written in C++ or Go.
- Make data driven decisions to determine solutions for automation.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated successful projects with IaC tools, specifically Terraform and Ansible, operating in a cloud environment such as GCP or AWS.
- Multiple successful DevOps related projects using shell scripts and Python. C++ experience is a plus.
- BS in computer science or other related engineering field
The Bay Area salary for this role is $145k-$160k base + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position can be on-site at Menlo Park, CA or remote. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee.

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
