Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and Design: Plan, design, build, and operate fiber based broadband networks using design tools like AutoCAD, Mapkit, QGIS, ArcGIS, GIS, Vetro Fiber Management.
  • Engineering and Documentation: Engineer all aspects of OSP engineering, including aerial, underground fiber routes, and maintain detailed OSP facility records including Inspection of work orders, verification of staking sheets and As-Builts.
  • Project Management: Manage projects, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure the successful delivery of projects using sound business practices. Prepare work order documentation and Method of Procedure (MOP) for completion of projects associated with areas of responsibility.
  • Team collaboration: Must be able to collaborate with stakeholders, a team of engineers and designers, civil authorities, customers, and contractors promoting excellence in OSP design and engineering practices.
  • Optimize and expand existing fiber networks to improve reliability, capacity, and scalability.
  • Compliance and Regulations: Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations as well as company policies.
  • Provides work order estimates that are within 10% of the actual cost.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations to supervisory personnel for new and improved engineering practices and technology.
  • Assists in the preparation of short term and long-range planning documents, including projections of growth and demand for existing and new services.
  • Trains company employees as requested on topics related to job functions.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Company.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, geography or GIS systems related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience in OSP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, QGIS, ArcGIS, Mapkit, Vetro, Microsoft Office Suite, GEO-spatial, Atlas, Crystal Reports) and GIS tools.
  • Strong leadership, excellent analytical, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • BICSI certification and working with Multiple dwelling unit data and coax cabling systems an added plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in OSP engineering and design, with additional Fiber Optic certification and experience within the fiber optic construction preferred.

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to various job sites, including accommodations for overnight stays as necessary.
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, stooping, kneeling as necessary and lift 50 pounds at time.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings (Drug and Background).
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States

Work Environment and Schedule

  • Work location: Grand Junction, Colorado
  • This position requires both office work and field operations.
  • A typical work schedule Monday through Friday
